On this page you'll find an index to each Legislative Session I have participated in. Each session index links to the full text of questions and statements I have made during the sessions relating to community issues in Halifax Fairview.
In addition to my responsibilities as the Member of the Legislature for Halifax Fairview, I am currently the Minister of Finance, Minister of Acadian Affairs, Minister responsible for the Securities Act, Minister responsible for the Insurance Act, Minister responsible for the Credit Union Act, Minister responsible for Part I of the Gaming Control Act, Minister responsible for the Utility and Review Board Act, and Minister responsible for the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation
When the Legislature is sitting, you have several options for keeping track of what's going on:
You can follow the daily debate by reading Hansard (on-line transcript from the House of Assembly).
Legislative TV can be seen in Halifax on Eastlink Cable channel 10. For those with Digital Cable it can be seen on Channel 95. For elsewhere in the Province, check local listings.
The Legislature can now be viewed via live streaming video on the Internet, assuming your computer is fast enough and is equipped with RealPlayer. Click on this link and follow the instructions.
In the Legislature (2001)Question Period happens every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday when the House of Assembly is in session. Members of the Opposition can question any Cabinet Minister on any topic for which that Minister is responsible.
Prior to June 2009, I was the NDP spokesperson ("critic") for Finance and Insurance. That is why almost all the questions I asked at that time were be in those areas, or on issues of local concern (for example, Northwest Arm Drive or Long Lake Provincial Park).
Do you have ideas about what you'd like to see me ask? If so, contact me.
