Photo: Punch Bowl from the NorthThe "Punch Bowl" or "Dent's Punch Bowl" is a small lake that lies between the Herring Cove Road and Punch Bowl Drive. The first picture below is looking south, from near the intersection of Punch Powl Drive and Highfield Street. The second picture is looking north, from near the intersection of Punch Bowl Drive and Herring Cove Road.
In reality, it suffers from benign neglect, since it is not large enough to attract the attention of the authorities. As a "lake", it is under provincial jurisdiction. As a fish habitat, it is under federal jurisdiction.
Photo: Punch Bowl from the SouthWater flows into the Punch Bowl through a culvert at the northern end (very close to the location of the first picture above). Water flows out through an underwater culvert at the southern end (very close to the location of the second picture).
If you have any information about the Punch Bowl (e.g. history, biology, hydrography) please let me know and I'll post it to this site.
